Research Integrity and Publication Policy
1. Commitment to Research Integrity
IAAIR is committed to the highest standards of research integrity. All affiliated researchers, including full-time staff, fellows, visiting scholars, and interns, are expected to conduct their work with honesty, accountability, and transparency. Misconduct—including fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism—is not tolerated and may result in disciplinary action.
2. Authorship and Contribution
Authorship must accurately reflect the individuals who made significant intellectual contributions to the research. Contributions may include conceptual design, data collection, model development, analysis, and manuscript writing. All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript and agree to its submission. Honorary authorship is prohibited. Contributors who do not meet authorship criteria should be recognized in the acknowledgments.
3. Plagiarism and Original Work
All research must be original. Plagiarism—including verbatim copying without attribution, excessive paraphrasing, or self-plagiarism—violates our standards. All manuscripts must undergo plagiarism screening prior to submission to journals, conferences, or public repositories.
4. Data Transparency and Reproducibility
Wherever possible, data, code, and methodology should be made publicly accessible to promote reproducibility. Exceptions due to confidentiality, ethics, or proprietary constraints must be clearly stated in the manuscript. Proper documentation and metadata are required for datasets and models shared publicly.
5. Conflicts of Interest
All authors must disclose any actual or perceived conflicts of interest. This includes funding relationships, consultancy roles, equity holdings, or any other personal or professional affiliations that may influence the interpretation or presentation of research findings.
6. Ethical Approvals and Compliance
Research involving human subjects, sensitive data, or environmental impact must receive approval from a recognized ethics committee (e.g., IRB). The manuscript must explicitly state the approval number and governing body. IAAIR complies with international ethical standards, including GDPR, HIPAA, and NIST guidelines, where applicable.
7. Preprints and Open Access
IAAIR supports preprint dissemination and open access publication. Researchers are encouraged to share early-stage work through trusted preprint platforms (e.g., arXiv, bioRxiv). All preprint manuscripts must clearly state that the work has not been peer-reviewed. Authors are responsible for ensuring that preprint versions are updated post-review where applicable.
8. Internal Review and Approval
All research manuscripts must undergo internal review before external submission. The review will focus on:
Research validity and originality
Ethical compliance and authorship accuracy
Alignment with IAAIR’s mission and strategic goals
Disclosure of funding sources and conflicts
Final clearance must be provided by the Director of AI or an assigned delegate.
9. Corrections and Retractions
In the event of significant errors or omissions discovered after publication, authors are required to notify the office of the Director of AI or Director of Research and take corrective action in coordination with the publishing journal. IAAIR supports transparency through formal corrections, retractions, or updates, as appropriate.
10. Attribution of Institutional Affiliation
All published research must properly reflect the author’s affiliation with IAAIR or IAAIR Foundation. Collaborative work must include accurate co-affiliation with partner institutions. Any disclaimers distinguishing institutional from personal views must be included where required.
11. Collaborative Publications
For multi-institutional or interdisciplinary research, clear agreements should be established on:
Authorship order and responsibilities
Institutional acknowledgments and funding disclosure
Data ownership and publication timelines
All parties involved must approve the final manuscript prior to submission. In cases of dispute, IAAIR follows COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines for resolution.
12. Conference Submissions and Presentations
Conference abstracts, posters, or presentations that represent IAAIR research must undergo internal review if they disclose unpublished work, contain proprietary models, or reflect IAAIR-funded results. Authors must ensure that publicly presented material aligns with journal publication policies (e.g., non-prepublication clauses) and conference submission rules. Presenters are responsible for representing IAAIR professionally and accurately.
13. AI-Generated Content and Authorship
The use of AI tools (e.g., language models, code generators, or image synthesis tools) in manuscript preparation, data generation, or analysis must be clearly disclosed in the methods or acknowledgments section. AI tools may assist in the writing process but cannot be listed as authors under IAAIR policy. Authors are fully responsible for all content generated with the assistance of AI and must validate its accuracy, originality, and ethical compliance.
