Applications are now open for the Fall 2025 Applied AI Research Internship at the Institute of Applied Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (IAAIR).

This 12-week program offers motivated students and recent graduates the opportunity to explore real-world applications of AI through both technical and qualitative research projects. Interns will gain practical experience developing AI solutions, investigating societal and policy dimensions of AI adoption, and collaborating with researchers and industry experts who are advancing the field of applied AI.

The internship is designed for students with a strong academic record and a clear interest in AI research. Eligibility differs depending on the project track:

Qualitative projects are open to applicants from social sciences, policy, development studies, or related fields, provided they have strong skills in qualitative research methods and a demonstrated interest in AI.
Technical projects are open to applicants from computer science, AI, machine learning, data science, robotics, mathematics, or related disciplines. Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in Python, familiarity with scientific libraries (NumPy, SciPy, Matplotlib), and a solid foundation in AI or machine learning.

This is an unpaid internship offered for educational and professional experience. Participants must be available full-time for the entire duration of the internship. IAAIR does not provide visa sponsorship; applicants are responsible for ensuring they have the legal right to work or intern in their designated location.
